Your seating chart

Most round wedding tables seat 8 comfortably.

0 seated 0 unseated 0 guests total 0 tables

Unseated guests

New guests land here. Drag them onto a table — or drag a seated guest back here.

No tables yet — add your first table above, then drag guests onto it.

Please note: your chart saves automatically in this browser (localStorage) — nothing is sent to a server. It stays on this device and browser; switching devices means rebuilding the chart there. Press “Clear all” to wipe it and start over.

How to build your seating chart

Four steps, no spreadsheet wrangling — and every move is checked against the table's capacity before it happens.

1

Add your guests

Type each name and, if you like, a group tag such as Family, Friends or Bridal party. Guests start in the Unseated area until you place them.

2

Add your tables

Give each table a name and a seat count — 8 is the usual round-table default. Click a table's name any time to rename it.

3

Drag guests into seats

Drag a guest onto a table, between tables, or back to Unseated. A full table refuses extra guests with a clear warning — it never silently overflows. On touch screens, use the “Move to” menu on each guest instead.

Worked example: a 13-guest demo chart

Press “Load demo” in the tool above and you get exactly this chart — a quick way to see how dragging, capacities and the unseated area work before you enter your own list.

TableSeatsGuests seatedFilled
Family Table8Ayesha Khan, Bilal Khan, Fatima Ahmed, Omar Ahmed, Sara Malik, Usman Malik, Hira Shah7 / 8
Friends Table8Zain Ali, Maria Khan, Ahmed Raza, Nadia Hussain, Daniyal Sheikh5 / 8
Unseated—Tom Wilson (Colleagues) — still waiting for a seat1
Why it works: family sits together at one table, friends at another, and the one guest without a group yet stays visible in Unseated instead of being forgotten. Drag Tom onto either table and both tables still have room — try it in the demo.

Seating chart questions, answered

How do I arrange seating for a wedding?

Start with your guest list, then group people who know each other — family together, friends together, colleagues together. Add one table per group, set how many seats each table has, then drag guests onto tables. Keep the head table or top table for the couple and their closest people, and seat older guests near the front and away from the speakers.

How many guests should sit at one wedding table?

Most round wedding tables seat 8 guests comfortably, and that is the default in this tool. Smaller tables of 6 work for intimate groups; 10 is possible on larger rounds but feels crowded. Whatever number you choose, set it as the table's capacity here and the tool will refuse to overfill a table.

What about kids and families when planning a seating chart?

Seat children with their parents, not at a separate kids' table, unless the children are older teenagers who know each other. Use the group tag (for example “Family”) to keep a whole family visible as one unit, then drag the family onto the same table. If a family is larger than one table, split it across two neighbouring tables and keep the parents with the younger children.

Can I print my wedding seating chart?

Yes. Press “Print chart” and your browser's print dialog opens with a clean layout: every table with its guests, plus any unseated guests, and no editing buttons or forms. Print it on paper or save it as a PDF from the same dialog to share with your venue or planner.

Does this tool save my seating chart?

Yes, automatically in your own browser using localStorage. Your guests and tables are still there when you come back on the same device and browser, and nothing is sent to a server. Press “Clear all” to wipe the chart and start over. If you switch devices, you will need to rebuild the chart there.
